About:
We are a married couple in our early 50s (no children) who live in the United States and
travel abroad each winter for anywhere from two to six months, generally in the November to April timeframe. We have house sat for several families in Australia, Fiji, Italy and Mexico, and have also enjoyed a number of help exchange opportunities (work in exchange for room and board) in France, Portugal and Italy. We can provide excellent references. We have looked after both large and
small dogs, cats, and even chickens, but we love all animals (we own a cat ourselves) and are open to taking care of most kinds. We have even managed an inn with fifteen guestrooms for nine weeks, including taking reservations, checking in guests, cleaning and servicing rooms, and complete laundry care.
We are nonsmokers, very light drinkers, quiet and very tidy. We look forward to taking care of
your pets as we are also pet owners (my parents cat-sit for us while we are traveling). We own our own home in the USA so we understand the importance of taking care of yours. My wife is an excellent house keeper and likes to garden. She will almost certainly leave your house cleaner than you left it. I am somewhat handy in the event any basic house repairs are needed.
My wife is an interior designer and I am now working as an artist after retiring from a long
career as an aerospace engineer. We have even extended our design skills in return for lodging
to a woman who needed some help with interior decorating, landscaping and home organization.
She was very happy with the results and we had great fun seeing what we could do for her on a
limited budget.
We enjoy house sitting because we like to experience living in another location or country not as
tourists but as the locals do as we hope to one day move permanently to another part of the
world. We are interested in both short and long term (months) house sits.
