We are a happily married couple of 14 years. We own our own home in Calgary, Alberta. My husband is 55 and I am 53. I retired in October 2012. I have 35 years of experience in administration (mostly reporting to executives in major oil and gas companies). My husband works overseas in Iraq in the oil and gas field as a drilling supervisor, and works on rotation (5 weeks on and 5 weeks off). When he comes home during the winter months, we usually head down to Phoenix for golf and relaxation. We usually rent a condo or stay with friends. We were thinking that house sitting would be a wonderful opportunity for us to spend any or all of 6 months of our winter down in Phoenix, as we are not yet ready to purchase a home until Jay has officially retired. I would take care of the home for 5 weeks at a time, and my husband would share the responsibilities when he joins me on his time off. Jay is very handy around the house; he can fix electrical and plumbing problems; takes very good care of the lawn; knows how to paint and repair. We both love animals (we have a 5 year old Maltese dog), and we are both non-smokers. We are very responsible, trust-worthy people, who would respect your property/pets and treat them as our own. I personally know what it is like to leave your home in someone else's care (we do it every other month in the winter when we leave Calgary and head down to Phoenix), and there is nothing more comforting than knowing that your house is in good hands and will still be there when you come home!
